When you click [Preferences...], the [Preferences] dialog appears.
This dialog allows you to specify advanced settings for the ScanGear functions.

[Scanner] tab

[Auto Power Settings]

You can set to turn the machine on or off automatically.

[Quiet Settings]

You can reduce the operating noise of the machine. Use this if the operating noise bothers you when, for example, you perform printing or scanning at night.

[Calibration Settings]

When you set [Execute at Every Scan] to [ON], the machine calibrates the scanner before each preview or scan execution and makes adjustments so that the scanned image is reproduced with correct color tones. This setting is [OFF] by default.

Color adjustment

Select one of the following options. It defaults to [Recommended].

[Recommended]

Recreates the document color vividly on the screen. It is recommended to select this option under normal circumstances.

[None]

ScanGear performs no color correction.
You cannot select this if [Black and White] is selected for [Color Mode].

[Monitor Gamma]

To adjust the brightness of the display image so that it matches the characteristics of the monitor, specify the gamma value (0.10 to 10.00) of the monitor (display).
Specify this setting if the original color tones are different from the color tones of the image displayed on the monitor.
Click [Defaults] to return the monitor gamma to the default value (2.20).
