Print Head Alignment

 

"Support Code: 1304" Is Displayed

Paper is jammed in the duplexing Transport Unit.
Remove the jammed paper according to the following procedure:

(1) Pull the paper out slowly from the Paper Output Slot.

Hold the paper with your hands, then pull the paper out slowly not to tear it.
If you are unable to remove the jammed paper, see ""Support Code: 1303" Is Displayed" for instructions and then remove the paper.

Do not pull the paper out from the Front Tray even though you can see the jammed paper at the Front Tray. Pulling the paper out forcibly from the Front Tray may damage the machine.

(2) Reload the paper, and press the Stop/Reset button on the machine.

"Support Code: 1303" Is Displayed

Paper is jammed in the Transport Unit.
Remove the paper following the procedure below:

(1) Turn off the machine, and unplug the power cord of the machine from the power supply.

(2) Stand the machine with the right side facing down.

If you can see the jammed paper at the Front Tray, stand the machine with the Front Tray open.

When you stand the machine, confirm that the Document Cover is closed.

Stand the machine on a wide and flat surface such as a desk.

When you stand the machine, hold it securely and be careful not to hit it on a hard object.

(3) Push the Open Lever to open the Transport Unit.

When you open the Transport Unit, support it with your hand so that it does not fall down.

(4) Pull out the jammed paper slowly.

When you pull the jammed paper, support the machine with your hand so that it does not fall down.

If the paper is rolled up and it is difficult to remove, grasp the edges of the paper, then remove the jammed paper.

If you cannot remove the jammed paper from the Transport Unit, close the Transport Unit, stand the machine upright, then open the Paper Output Cover to remove the paper.

(5) Close the Transport Unit.

After you close the Transport Unit, do not leave the machine standing upright.

(6) Plug the machine back in and turn the machine back on.

(7) Reload the paper.

All print jobs in queue are canceled. Reprint if necessary.

 

If you cannot remove the paper or if the paper tears inside the machine, or if the paper jam error continues after removing the paper, contact the service center.

"Support Code: B200" Is Displayed

An error has occurred. The printer needs repair.
Turn off the machine, and unplug the power cord of the machine from the power supply.
Contact the service center.

"Support Code: 5100" Is Displayed

A printer error has occurred.
Perform the operation described below:

(1) Check whether anything is blocking the movement of the FINE Cartridge Holder.

(2) Cancel printing, and turn off the machine.

(3) Then clear the paper jam or foreign object that is preventing the FINE Cartridge Holder from moving, and turn on the machine again.

Be careful not to touch the components inside the machine. The machine may not print out properly if you touch it.

 

If the problem is not resolved, contact the service center.

"Support Code: 6000" Is Displayed

A printer error has occurred.
Perform the operation described below:

(1) If any object is placed in front of the machine, remove it.

(2) Turn off the machine, and unplug the power cord of the machine from the power supply.

(3) Plug the machine back in and turn the machine back on.

 

If the problem is not resolved, contact the service center.

Do not place any objects in front of the machine; otherwise, the Paper Output Tray does not open and an error will occur.

Do not close the Paper Output Tray while the machine is in operation; otherwise, an error will occur.

A printer error has occurred.
Perform the operation described below:

(1) Turn off the machine, and unplug the power cord of the machine from the power supply.

(2) Plug the machine back in and turn the machine back on.

 

If the problem is not resolved, contact the service center.

Checking the MAC address/IP address

To check the MAC address/IP address of the machine, perform the operation described below.

(1) Load a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper.

(2) On the Operation Panel of the machine, press the Maintenance button repeatedly until the LED displays the following:

(3) Press the Color or Black button.

The machine starts printing the network setting information.

(4) Check the [MAC address] and the [IP address] from the printed network settings.

Print Head Alignment

Align the Print Head from the Operation Panel of the machine.

If you want to check the current settings before executing Print Head Alignment, click [Print Head Alignment] on the [Maintenance] tab, and click [Print Alignment Value] in the [Start Print Head Alignment] dialog.

Automatic Head Alignment is specified under normal circumstances. However, you can also align the head manually. To change to Manual Head Alignment, click [Custom Settings] on the [Maintenance] tab and check the [Align heads manually] check box.
Then click [Print Head Alignment] on the [Maintenance] tab.

Print the print head alignment sheet

If the remaining ink level is low, the print head alignment sheet will not be printed correctly.

Replace the FINE Cartridge whose ink is low.

(1) Make sure that the machine is turned on.

(2) Load a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in the Front Tray.

(3) Open the Output Tray Extension, open the Paper Output Tray, then extend the Paper Output Support.

(4) Press the Maintenance button repeatedly until the LED displays as follows.

(5) Press the Color or Black button.

The print head alignment sheet will be printed.

Do not touch any printed part on the print head alignment sheet.

Be careful not to get the print head alignment sheet dirty. If the sheet is stained or wrinkled, it may not be scanned properly.

Scan the print head alignment sheet to adjust the print head position

(1) Place the print head alignment sheet on the Platen Glass.

Align the mark on the upper left corner of the sheet to the alignment mark () on the Platen Glass, and then close the Document Cover.

(2) Check the LED displays as shown below, and then press the Color or Black button.

Scanning starts, and the print head position is adjusted automatically.
When adjusting the print head position is completed, the LED returns to the copy standby mode. Remove the sheet on the Platen Glass.

Do not open the Document Cover or move the loaded print head alignment sheet until scanning is completed.

If print head position adjustment fails, the error lamp on the machine lights up orange, and the LED displays an error code in the following sequence:

Press the Stop/Reset button to dismiss the error, then take the actions described below.

- Make sure that the print head alignment sheet is set in the correct position and orientation on the Platen Glass.

- Make sure the Platen Glass and the print head alignment sheet are not dirty.

- Make sure the type and size of loaded paper is suitable for Automatic Print Head Alignment.
For Automatic Print Head Alignment, always load one sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper.

- Make sure if print head nozzles are clogged.
Print the nozzle check pattern to check the status of the Print Head.

If the error is not resolved, connect the machine to the computer and align the Print Head on the printer driver.
