This section explains how to start ScanGear from a terminal software and scan a document.
Scanning from the Platen Glass
Scanning from the ADF (Auto Document Feeder)
Scanning from the Platen Glass
1. Place the document face-down on the Platen Glass.
2. Enter the following from the command line of a terminal software.
[user@zzz /yyy]$ scangearmp2
3. The [Select Scanner] dialog is displayed.
From the list, select the model you want to use, and then click [OK].
To use this machine with a USB connection, select "Canon MB5300 series (libusb:port number)." To use this machine with a network connection, select "Canon MB5300 series (MAC address)."

4. Configure setting items as required.
For details on how to configure setting items, see the ScanGear Screens.
5. Click [Scan (JPEG)] or [Scan (PDF)].
6. Specify the file name and directory, and click [Save].
The scan is started and the scanned data is saved as a file.
Scanning from the ADF (Auto Document Feeder)
1. Place the edge-aligned sheets of documents of the same size on the ADF (Auto Document Feeder).

4. In [Scan Mode], select the mode that uses the ADF (Auto Document Feeder) and configure setting items as required.

5. Click [Scan (PDF)].
6. Specify the file name and directory, and click [Save].
The scan is started and the scanned data is saved as a file.
