This section explains how to start ScanGear from GIMP and scan a document
When the machine scans a document from the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder), it scans without providing a preview.

Only GIMP can start ScanGear. No other application can start ScanGear.

Scanning from the platen

1. Place the document face-down on the platen glass.

2. Select [Create] -> [ScanGear MP...] from the [File] menu in GIMP.

 

ScanGear is started and the [Basic Mode] tab is displayed.

If more than one ScanGear compatible products are connected, the [Select Model] dialog box is displayed. Select a model you want to use and click the [OK] button. ScanGear is started.

3. Click the [Preview] button.

 

The preview image is displayed in the preview area.

4. Configure setting items as required.

For details about how to adjust the image brightness and color, see the [Advanced Mode] tab.

 

5. Click the [Scan] button to start scanning.

The scanned data is displayed in the GIMP windows.

 

Scanning from the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder)

1. Set documents of the same size together on the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) of this machine.

The document sizes that can be scanned from the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) are as follows:

- A4, Letter, A5, B5, Legal

The documents that can be scanned from the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) in Basic Mode are fixed to the following standard sizes depending on the selected language:

- English (United States): Letter

- Other than English (United States): A4

2. Select [Create] -> [ScanGear MP...] from the [File] menu in GIMP.

 

ScanGear is started and the [Basic Mode] tab is displayed.

If more than one ScanGear compatible products are connected, the [Select Model] dialog box is displayed. Select a model you want to use and click the [OK] button. ScanGear is started.

3. Choose [Select Source] to select the document type for which you will be using the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder).

You will not be able to preview documents, select the output size, or adjust the cropping frame.
Specify other settings as necessary.

4. Click the [Scan] button.

The scanned data is displayed individually in the GIMP window.
