This section explains how to print a file from the Print menu of an application.
The print setup items that you can set from the Print menu of an application differs depending on the application.
If a setup item cannot be specified from the Print menu, you can specify the item by using the lpoptions command or the CUPS Web interface to change the default value.
Depending on which application you use, you may need to specify the following print command and the PPD file. For details about the print options that can be specified with the print command, see the "lpr command" description in "lpr command/cif command."

When you print from an application, the following methods of specifying print options are available:
The specification procedure differs according to the application. For details, see the manual of the specific application. |
Printer name to be selected when printing from an application
Sometimes the printer list displayed include "MX330-series" and "MX330-series-FAX", which are registered automatically when the printer is connected. If either of these printer names are selected, printing cannot be performed correctly.
When specifying the printer settings, always select the "registered printer name" that was specified at installation.
Examples of print setup from OpenOffice.org Writer are described below.
Printing from OpenOffice.org Writer (Fedora 10)
Open the OpenOffice.org Writer document.
1. Select [Print...] from the [File] menu.
The [Print] window appears.
Select "MX330" and click the [Page Setup] tab.

Always select the "registered printer name" that was specified at installation. |
2. Specify Paper type and Paper source, and other settings.
When you click the [Print] button, the machine starts printing with a paper size that matches the document.
When you execute borderless printing, click the [Properties] tab, and for [Paper size], select a Page Size for borderless printing that has "(borderless)" after the size.
If borderless printing does not go well, try using the CUPS Web interface to set the default page size to a borderless size or using the lpoptions command to set the page size to a borderless size. This may resolve the problem.
